Siege On Kashamu’s Residence Lifted

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have finally vacated the home Of Buruji Kashamu, after six days of house arrest, Channels Television reports.

The siege on Kashamu’s residence began on Saturday, May 23, 2015, in a bid by the agency to arrest and extradite him to the US to face drug related charges.

Declaring the siege illegal, the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday, ruled that  Kashamu could not be arrested and extradited over allegations from which he had been exonerated by two British courts.
But in a twist, the agency remained stationed at his residence in defiance to the court order, this prompted counsel to the embattled Senator-elect, Ajibola Oluyede, to accuse the NDLEA  of flouting the court order restraining them from arresting Kashamu.

While the siege lasted, Mr. Kashamu threatened to kill himself if anyone entered his home. He maintained that the drug related charges leveled against him was a case of mistaken identity. He also claimed that he is a victim of political conspiracy.
